The Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centre East Students Union (IPRC-ESU) is a body established to promote the interests related to studies; technology; culture and welfare of the students .
Vision, Aims and Objectives
1. The vision of the Union is to fight for development and promotion of the members’ academic interests.
2. The aims and objectives of IPRC-ESU are the following :
To use all lawful, proper and prudent means to ensure that members’ aspirations and interests are realized;
To promote students’ welfare;
To seek and undertake representation and/or participation in organs of IPRC-Ngoma;
To work in close solidarity with other students’ associations within the IPRC-Ngoma and to establish friendly relationship and understanding with other relevant associations, whose aims and objectives are similar to those of IPRC-ESU;
To collaborate with the College Administration or other Institution’s bodies concerned with the enhancement of members’ standard of studying, living and improvement of facilities at the Institution;
To encourage students academic research and the development of their artistic and professional talents;
To improve and preserve high academic standards in the College;
To improve the student-lecturer relationship by developing and enhancing mutual confidence among the students and lecturers;
To raise funds through any lawful means for purposes of achieving the aims and objectives of IPRC-ESU;
To participate in community service in compliance with College’ objectives;
To promote principles of democracy, human rights, gender equality and fight against corruption;
Fight against genocide ideology and any kind of discrimination;
Promote Unity and reconciliation;
To carry out such other activities that may be incidental to achievement of the above objectives.
IPRC-ESU recognizes ordinary members and honorary members.
1.Ordinary membership:Ordinary membership is compulsory to all students of the IPRC-Ngoma/ College of Technology as follows:
Government Sponsored Students duly admitted by IPRC-Ngoma who shall pay an amount on annual subscription fee as approved by the general assembly.
Self Sponsored Students duly admitted by IPRC-Ngoma who shall pay an amount on annual subscription fee as may be proposed from time to time by the general assembly.
2. Honorary membership: The union may, by a resolution passed by half of all the Representative Assembly, invite:
Any past members of the union or any person(s) who, in the opinion of the Assembly and approved by the General Assembly, has rendered valuable service and/or contribution to the Union or College, to become honorary member of the Union.
Any former member may apply to the Executive to be an honorary member of the Union. The Executive shall vet such application and present proper application to Representatives Assembly for recommendation .
An honorary member shall serve for a term of three years renewable upon satisfactory performance and proposal by the Representative Assembly. Honorary members shall not vote or be eligible to hold any office of IPRC-ESU.
